𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙎𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩! Piper Bush, senior at Putnam City North High School, completed her Gold Award Girl Scout Project, Project Bravery, in coordination with Mr. Scott and the PCN Orchestra. PCN Special Education classes along with students from the Oklahoma Foundation for the Disabled attended PCN Orchestra's final concert rehearsal as a sensory-friendly performance. 🎼
Piper described her project as being named after an autistic boy named Bravery who missed his sisters' school orchestra concert because nearby adult audience members said they would not be able to enjoy the concert with him in the audience after he started humming the tuning note. Project Bravery was then born to make live performances and events accessible, after some simple sensory-friendly adjustments, to those with special needs.
Piper stated, "my project matters because the arts enriches everyone and no person should have to miss out on fine arts. My project has brought me and my community to a new level of understanding, compassion and caring."
Bravo, Piper! 🎻
